For hundreds of impoverished children across America, Free Comic Book Day is the one day a year a child can forget how poor he or she is by going to the nearest comic store and picking up a free comic! It's a blissful time when such a child won't have to think about whether or not he or she will get to eat, and if so, whether or not it will be another ketchup sandwich. No, these children will instead get to be surrounded by comics they can't and probably never will be able to afford!
But why should these children be allowed this freedom only once a year? It is our belief that even poor kids – no matter how pathetic or awkwardly dressed – deserve comics year round. And with your help we can make this dream a reality!
In future weeks we plan to roll out a Nation-wide ad campaign encouraging children and adults everywhere to spread the word. If you would like to donate to our cause, please click our donate button below. In the meantime, here's what YOU can do!
1. Contact your favorite retailers and publishers and tell them you want free comics every day. If they won't listen, talk to the fans. (Don't mention the poor – that's not much of an incentive to most people.)
2. Download our informational pamphlet and hand out copies or place them around your neighborhood.
